Have you ever wanted to go over and try driving your electric vehicle (EV) for an unforgettable winter camping trip in the snow? Some people would find electric vehicle (EV) prone to power anxiety, fearing that they will run out of power in their car while camping and not only get a bad experience, but also not be able to tackle the return trip. Hey, friends! Owners who have driven an electric vehicle (EV) will know how much they save on gasoline expenses by owning an electric vehicle (EV) and have a more convenient experience on top of that.

However for camping in the great outdoors, it won't even use up your freshly-charged battery, because in our experience, when you do an overnight camping trip, leave your unit (heated or cooled) on all night to set aside 20% of your battery, mind you! Here we take the Tesla as an example of other brands of ev, other campers are welcome to share your experiences with us .

Taking a road trip in an EV used to be impossible—the car battery wouldn’t last long enough and there was nowhere to stop and charge it when it died. However, the use of electric vehicles has increased over the past 10 years, which means fast charging stations are more accessible than ever. You don't have to have power anxiety because there may be a charging post at your campsite that can charge quickly.

Even better, EV drivers can now combine their eco-friendly transportation with outdoor adventures—a camping road trip in an EV is actually easier than one might think, especially in electric cars that offer camping-friendly features like climate control, and the option to use the car’s electricity to power camping equipment. Whether you’re headed to the ocean or the mountains, electric cars offer campers a new way to road trip and camp along the way—one with the chance to explore the vast wilderness with quiet operation and zero emissions.

  • The Warm Experience of Electric Vehicle Camping in the Snow

Before this winter was over, we took a snowy electric car camping trip. Armed with plenty of gear and warm sleeping bags, quilts, and even a stove, the beauty of driving a car is that we can just take whatever we need to get out into the wilderness. We drove a Model Y, which provided plenty of space and ensured a comfortable driving experience.

Measures to keep you warm
In order to stay warm in the cold and snow, we took several effective measures to keep warm. First, a tent was erected that could be attached to the trunk so we could enjoy more space inside. Our tent was equipped with chimney pipe access to ensure that when using the stove to cook food and keep warm, the smoke did not remain directly inside the tent, thus ensuring safety and comfort.

Inside, we turned on the heating to keep the entire cabin at a pleasant temperature. The Model Y's battery heating system is very efficient and kept us warm in the cold.

Comfortable Sleeping Experience
We chose a car mattress with an R-value of 4.0 or higher to provide good insulation. The high R-value mattress effectively insulated the cold ground, allowing us to enjoy a warm night's sleep. Combined with the soft sleeping bag, our sleeping experience inside the tent was very comfortable and we were able to sleep peacefully even when the cold wind was howling outside.

Cooking and heating
We also brought along a stove for cooking and heating. Camping in the snow may be cold, but delicious hot food can instantly boost our morale. Cooking on the stove not only allowed us to enjoy warm food, but also a cozy atmosphere to sit around on a cold night.

Overall, this snow camping experience allowed us to fully appreciate the charm of EV camping. With well-prepared equipment and reasonable warmth measures, we were able to enjoy warmth and comfort even in the freezing cold environment. It was an unforgettable winter adventure, looking forward to the next camping trip!
